In May 2003, Minhang library joined in the Shanghai Central Library which established “One-Card-Through” information system platform and share the collections and the resources together. We now rank first class at municipal (city) level.

As a basic-level public library, Minhang library upholds the service idea as "Open, Free, Universal and Equal", adheres to the tenet of "People-oriented", "User First, Service is Supreme." all the time, implements the commitment “Public libraries in Shanghai promise to ensure equal, considerate, efficient and satisfactory services.” with effort. Not only do we provide traditional library services such as books lending, reading, information consultation, lectures, social education etc., we also actively promote the construction of digital library by providing services as knowledge navigation, information consultation, retrieval and utilization of digital resources, remote access, wireless Internet access. Furthermore, we constantly develop the variety of services by building a digital communication platform based on the Mhlib blog (“blog of Book Core”) and Minhang Library weibo to provide multi-functional, multi-layer and all-directional services. Minhang Library won the prize of Advanced Organization of Shanghai Central Library Work for 3 years in succession during 2010-2012, stands first in the circulation quantity of books in the “one-card-through” information system of Shanghai Central Library in affiliates, has the largest number of patrons who request the certificates and the most readers among “one-card-through” branches for 2 years in succession. In 2011, the receptionists were awarded "Outstanding and Civilized Women Team " by nation. The library won “Home of Model Staff" prize of Minhang District several times during 2008-2012, received the honor of "Excellent and Advanced Basic-level Party Organization" in 2012. We make positive efforts to ensure universal and equal services of library, narrow the information divide of the society, promote fairness of social information, improve the diathesis of the citizens, and promote all-round development of people and social sustainable development.
